About Vidhya Rajendran
I am a computational designer specializing in analyzing building performance, embodied carbon accounting, programming, and data management. I have a background in Architectural design which I combine with my skills in coding and analytical thinking to provide innovative design solutions. I work with ZGF Architects, where I split my time between the Project Performance Team (PPT) and the Data Strategy R&D group. - With the PPT team, I handle the sustainability tasks for the architectural projects - embodied carbon in building materials, LEED building certification, and building performance simulations for daylight, ventilation, and quality views of the outdoors. - With the Data team, I design and deploy surveys, and analyze the responses. I am proficient with Natural Language Processing (NLP) to post-process subjective responses. My master's thesis was on the design of a sound absorptive panel for use in open offices. This panel was composed of differently tuned Helmholtz resonators (HRs) with a focus on absorbing human speech sounds. A unit panel was fabricated and experimentally tested to validate my research. I presented this research at two conferences by the Acoustical Society of America and won the 'Best Student Paper' award. I published a paper in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America in January 2022.
