I worked on a uniquely positioned team within Amazon's Traffic org. The team had a wide range of responsibilities from creating browser integration technologies, to maintaining apps on new, emerging platforms like Windows 8's App Store.My contributions to the team were:• Helping architect, document, participate in software design discussions and to develop features for the Windows 8 Amazon shopping app, 1Button App and Compass Service• Make data-driven decisions to implement UX improvements and drive increases in order product sales• Improve team processes - e.g. improving our deployment process by automating several steps and shortening deploy time by over 70%• Resolved critical bugs on and off work hours, by effectively managing the situation, coordinating with cross-functional teams and keeping management in the loopApart from my team responsibilities, I also participated in several Amazon internal programs.• Spent a day shadowing Customer Service reps and learning how Amazon is Customer Obsessed from end-to-end• Delivered a 'Brown Bag' talk on building Chrome Apps from scratch• Participated in Amazon's hiring process by conducting technical interviews for over 40 candidates• Mentored a couple interns and guided them in completing their internship projects

I worked across various projects during my internship:• On the Front-end Team, I helped implement photo annotations per a provided UI design• I also helped triage and fix various bugs across the web application• On the Mobile Apps team, I helped build the grid view and to improve general stability of the appApart from that - this was my first, real experience working in a startup/tech-first software company - and I absorbed everything like a sponge. From design process, project management, observing how leadership functioned, finding great role models in my Eng. Manager and other team members, to even deploying my first ever production code.
