I work at the BBC's Delhi bureau, the hub of South Asia. I'm a designated Senior Journalist with a team that works on issues related to the Editorial Compliance of Indian language services - Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi, Hindi and Gujarati. English + Tamil, Print + Digital, Field + Desk, Reporting + Editing, Text + Video, News + Features, Conventional + New. This is how I like to sum up my experience. Skilled in Reporting and Writing News & Special Reports, Photography, Video Production, Video Editing, Communication, Public Speaking, Social Media Management and Content Management & Production. Strong media and communication professional with PG degree focused in Media & Communication.I've worked with The New Indian Express based in Coimbatore and Tiruppur as a Reporter for 22 months combined. Then I moved to New Delhi to work with the Tamil Digital team of BBC World Service, where I spent 18 months as a Broadcast Journalist, a multi-tasking role that involves Reporting, News Editing and Publishing, Social Media Management, Translation, Radio Production and Presentation, Video Production and SEO. Later, I competed with some of the best brains in the team for a senior role and became a Senior Broadcast Journalist (later redesignated as Senior Journalist) when I was just 27. This role required me to depute the Editor in their absence. In this mid-managerial role I have lead digital desk operations and social media & videos team at different phases of time.Planning & Commissioning, Mentoring & Guidance, Editorial decision making & giving approval for text & multimedia contents, preparing work schedule for the team, liaising with sister services and other teams in the wider BBC, News Editing & Publishing, leading SEO operations are among the primary responsibilities of the role.Whenever time permitted or the situation demanded I regularly produced original content for BBC Tamil. My works, both text & video productions, have been regularly used by other Indian language services of the BBC, all these years. I've proven track record in producing good ground reports, using analytics to increase the reach of web, social media and video platforms in digital journalism and in situations that demanded leadership acumen. After a career break for few months, I've worked as an Independent Journalist for an year, before returning to the BBC in May, 2024.
