Analyze project requests, proposals, or engineering data to determine feasibility,productibility, cost, or production time of mass transportation products.Evaluate product data and design from inspections and reports for conformance toengineering principles, customer requirements, and quality standards.Formulate conceptual design of component or systems to meet customer requirements.Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, orprocesses.Formulate mathematical models or other methods of computer analysis to develop,evaluate, or modify design, according to customer engineering requirements.Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools orcomputer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.Recommend design modifications to eliminate component or system malfunctions.Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes indesigns, tolerances, or processing methods.Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performanceof equipment, components, or systems.Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other datato evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications.Establish or coordinate the maintenance or safety procedures, service schedule, or supplyof materials required to maintain machines or equipment in the prescribed condition.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications.Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects.Establish or coordinate the maintenance or safety procedures, service schedule, or supply of materials required to maintain machines or equipment in the prescribed condition.
