APICHA is a federally-qualified health center (FQHC) located in Chinatown, Manhattan. Project Connect provides programming, education and resources that serve LGBTQ Asian and Pacific Islanders. Project Connect is a program created to improve health outcomes for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and intersex (LGBTQI) Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities throughout New York City. Project Connect’s goals are as follows: 1) Increase access and improve the quality of health and human services to LGBTQI AΠ 2) Address homophobia and raise awareness of and support for LGBTQI AΠ and 3) Empower LGBTQI API individuals and families, thereby, improving their overall health and well-being. Position Summary:The Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating all aspects of the programs and services offered through Project Connect which includes monthly health and wellness workshops, a youth mentorship for empowerment program, and LGBTQI API sensitivity trainings to health and human service providers.

GABRIELA USA is a grassroots organization defending and advocating for the rights and welfare of Filipina women. We are a collective of Filipinas working to build community, invested in education and advancing the people's democratic revolution of the Philippines. From March to May 2015, I fundraised over $2,500 through online donations and personal asks to take part of a 5 month exposure program in the Philippines.

• Provide an educational, engaging, and inspiring 2.5 hour nutrition education workshop to NYC students• Learn curricula, train with senior instructors, and create good will through all interactions with schools, teachers, parents, and students involved in the program• Workshop instruction involves preparation and assembly of class materials, shopping for supplies, cleaning and care of supplies, administering quizzes to students, and collecting data

• Created and implemented dance curriculum at three middle school after school programs in Washington Heights, Harlem, Brooklyn • Taught dances and movement from around the world including: hip hop, hula, Tahitian, salsa, capoeira, breakdancing, line dancing, tai chi and yoga• Presented interactive and engaging games and activities that are age-appropriate and focused on creative movement and dance

East Harlem

• Lead orientation for over 1,000 young people who live in Manhattan• Facilitated daily workshops for 35 youth on topics including financial literacy, values and goals, healthy living, college and career exploration and job readiness • Adapted curriculum scripted by the city government to make content relatable and relevant to the young people’s experiences and context

Greater Seattle Area

• Provided advocacy and support to queer & trans youth survivors of violence and crime through advocacy-based counseling, safety planning, building support networks, processing trauma, and healing from abuse• Facilitated weekly discussion groups at Gay-Straight Alliances, young adult shelter and youth transitional living programs• Presented interactive and engaging workshops on teen dating & domestic violence and healthy relationship skill-building with LGBT youth focus

Seatac And Seattle

• Created weekly after school program, “College Collaboration,” conducting sessions on SAT/ACT prep, college essays, scholarship search, and different college systems• Provided one-on-one academic support for English Language Learners and assisted math teachers in classrooms• Established and co-facilitated Gay-Straight Alliance and young women’s discussion group• Co-developed curriculum and facilitated workshop series on anti-racism and anti-oppression for AmeriCorps team members

Brown University

Organized and implemented 10 campus-wide events focused on critical multiracial identity and issues including an annual interracial dating forum drawing over 360 people, an opening convocation event, and a panel discussion on the politics of multiracial identity.

Brown University

Planned, implemented, and facilitated MPC training, weekly small group meetings and bimonthly general body. Provided administrative help and programmatic support to the MPC Program and the Program Director.

Organized and focused on outreach efforts for students of color through hosting prospective students, emailing/calling prospective and admitted students, and special events. Coordinated year round events for potential students such as, the fall Student of Color Open House and admitted student program, Third World Welcome (TWW), in the spring.

Supported over 200 first year students of color in pre-orientation transitional program (Third World Transition Program) and served as peer counselor in dormitories. Co-facilitated workshops on race, class, and gender issues for residential units of 50-70 students. Assigned to MPC Steering Committee to analyze program goals.
