Water User Associations (WUAs) are established to plan water usage efficiently, manage irrigation systems, and ensure the optimal use of water for agriculture. To empower these associations, the Act mandates capacity-building training, financial assistance, and inclusive decision-making processes for members. Under the provisions of the Act, WUAs are granted the authority to regulate irrigation areas. This includes rights related to water distribution, maintenance and repair activities, and the collection of water charges from members. Such measures ensure equitable and sustainable water distribution. In terms of regulation, WUAs are tasked with managing water storage, scheduling its distribution, and contributing to the improvement of agricultural practices. Furthermore, the Act emphasizes transparency and accountability to prevent any misuse of water resources.
