RRESOURCE BASE ASSESSMENT AND MAPPING OF EUCALYPTUS PLANTATION IN KARNATAKAGrasim Industries Limited is a flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group. Their core businesses are Viscose Staple Fibre and Cement. The project was about the resource base assessment and mapping of Eucalyptus plantation in Karnataka such that the company can strategise the procurement of Eucalyptus wood for manufacturing Viscose Staple Fibre.This project was part of part of the company’s strategy to check effectiveness of seedlings/ plantlets distribution from its various nurseries under Social Farm Forestry.. Through this project the company determined target areas where wood availability is significant. It also got feedback from farmers so that the company’s operation regarding resource development and wood procurement operations can be further improved.
