Project Handled: 2nd and 3rd Generation Biofuel.2G Biofuel- Cellulosic ethanol has been used to design a 10 tones biomass per day processing plant to convert rice, wheat straw; bagasse and many other varieties of biomass into sugars and lignin, and onto ethanol for use as fuel or chemical intermediate.The designed pilot plant is under expansion at industry site at IGL Kashipur, Uttarakhand with support from Department of Biotechnology. 3G Biofuel- Algal biotechnology has been set up at the Centre laboratory to explore algae as a source of biofuel/biodiesel/value-added products. For this, research is going on to develop knowledge, technology and process strategies for sustainable production of algae as feeds.Worked on scale-up and technology transfer, coordinated with the research team to make the process more efficient for product development, contributed to plant process layout design, involve in building the small-scale model of the actual processing facilities for research purpose, experimental data optimization and analytics, handled purchase of equipment, quotation, maintenance, equipment installment, and piping, detailed designing of the photo bioreactor, carried out a various reaction of biomass at different pressure and temperature for optimizing reaction kinetics to yield the product of higher efficiency, prepared reports on data of different reaction, ASTM analysis for biomass compositional content, HPLC analysis of sugar, lignin content, and impurities.
