Invited by Maersk to lead the terminal domain on Project Beacon which is focused on enabling smart containers. These smart containers can send (location and condition) data to the shipping line and it's end-customers. The project itself is highly IT and technology driven, focusing on capturing of IOT data and sending this to various parties within the supply chain, e.g. Maersk, terminals and our end-customers. The pilot consisted of a trade route from Germany to China.My role is to capture the needs of the terminal domain and leading the implementation of Project Beacon in the terminal domain. Full end-to-end responsibility on enabling this technology in the container terminal domain. Which included heavy stakeholder management, including negotiating with the port authority and government in China. Responsible for scaling up Beacon technology in the container terminal domain.

The design department provides terminal design and process improvement of terminals, gates, operation interfaces and equipment automation. In my short time in this department I used my extensive terminal operations knowledge to provide design reviews. The noteworthy design review I made during this period was for our 2nd and 3rd phase of our terminal in Lazaro (Mexico). Comparing the expansion on automation versus manual. Total value of the design of this expansion was ~500 mil USD

Leading several global retrofit and automation programs at APM Terminals. The goal of standardizing the terminals on several automation technologies. Responsible for all projects within the program on time, scope and budget.The programs I was responsible for:- Automated Mooring for all (7) HUB terminals, which was a total budget of 260 mil USD. In total 7 projects and I have led a cross functional team of 4 disciplines: Design, Engineering, Execution and Maintenance. Directly responsible for business case development, communication to steering committee, project management and procurement.- Tandem Lift for all (7) HUB terminals. In total 7 projects.- Controlled closing of safety program and DGPS program

The Innovation department works on global innovation projects across 75 container terminals worldwide. My work consists of the preparation of Business cases and Investment Proposals for the Senior Management Team regarding new types of technological innovations. I am involved from the start of new innovation projects till the successful pilot and business case/proposal. I have worked on the following Innovation projects:- Automated Terminal Truck for operational savings in 10 terminals of approx. 104 mil USD- Automation business case of 400 mil USD for Algeciras (Spain)- Tandem Lift pilot project in Tangier (Morroco) concluding on 10 - 12% productivity increase in operations - project management from start to finish- Video Analytics using CCTV camera feeds in terminals for automatic detection of dangerous situations- Safety project (20 mil USD) on load collision prevention, responsible for Algeciras (Spain) and Tangier (Morroco) terminals- Responsible for hosting a Global Innovation Workshop focusing on solving challenges in OPS, Safety and Commercial, resulting into 30 novel idea concepts for APMTI collaborate with the terminals and several HQ departments including Legal, Finance, Procurement, Safety, Commercial, Global IT and Global Operations on all stages of the project. This includes the preparation of several legal documents, commercial and financial documents with external parties. Development and providing input in new operational processes within the Engineering, Safety and Global OPS team. Managing the innovation pilot projects and feeding the results into a Business case and Investment Proposal to the Senior Management Team. Next to innovation projects, I am involved in stimulating Innovation within APM Terminals. Collaborating with internal departments and organising Global Innovation Workshops to find innovative solutions for APM Terminals toughest operational and business challenges through a structured ideation and development process.
