Vikki Bramshaw is an author and researcher living in the heart of the inspiring New Forest, with her chickens, horses, and wild as the hills son. She is committed to studying history, culture, spirituality and the natural world, through the lens of folk belief and tradition with authentic and reliable sources. Vikki was first published in 2009 and has a wealth of experience in writing, editing and promoting these topics confidently, both in-person and online. Following the successful publication of her first book, ‘Craft of the Wise’ in 2009 Vikki has contributed to a number of essays for anthologies, including ‘VS: Duality and Conflict in Magick, Mythology and Paganism’ before releasing the groundbreaking ‘Dionysos: Exciter to Frenzy’ in 2013, which explored the Greek God Dionysos and the extent of his influence on the ancient world. Vikki’s latest book, ‘New Forest Folklore, Traditions & Charms’ (Avalonia Books, 2022) is a unique study of the New Forest, taking a deeper look at the heritage, landscape and habitat of the ancient landscape of her native New Forest. Following the publication of this book, Vikki was asked to assist in the curation of ‘Spirit of the Forest,’ an exhibition held at the New Forest Heritage Centre (2023) where Vikki was involved in the acquisition and cataloguing of the physical items on display, both in the exhibition and entries online, for the newforestknowledge.org archives. She also featured in several films about the New Forest for this exhibition. Vikki’s research and publications have also inspired several New Forest Artists in Residence and have been integrated into their artwork and exhibitions at SpudWorks Arts Gallery in Sway, Beccy Mcray’s Common Ground (Oct 22-May 23) and Melanie Rose (May 23-Oct 23).
