Started as employee number one of the computer vision group, I expanded that to a team of close to twenty engineers over period of 18 months. Some of my major contributions are: (a) Evaluated multiple SoCs over several months which enabled Level 2+ driving, and this led to selection of the target SoC which was used to the A-Sample of the DriveCore ADAS ECU(b) Gained extensive understand through evaluation of various camera, LiDAR, Imaging RADAR and USS sensors in the market(c) Built a sensor fusion stack which enabled hands free driving on Freeways, and was tested for more than 10K miles. Marie Curie ResearcherUniversity Of Bielefeld Apr 2010 - Mar 2013Bielefeld, Nordrhein-Westfalen, DeAs a Marie Curie Reseacher, I was responsible for developing computational models of visual attention primarily for their application in robotics. The three saliency models that I developed in the CoR lab has been well accepted in the robotics community. Stochastic algorithms were used to model visual saliency, which were parameter free and agnostic to the size of the input image. This helped achieve state-of-the-art performance on automatically predicting human eye-gaze and detecting salient regions concurrently which had not been achieved so far. In addition, I was also involved in teaching Masters students, organizing international conferences and summer schools. The software was based on the existing state-of-the-art in 2008 for object detection. In the course of developing this software, I carried out extensive literature review and validated the algorithms on PASCAL VOC Image dataset. The experiements were carried out on a a cluster of fifty machines, and resulted in a detailed report documenting the strengths and shortcomings of the underlying algorithm. -
