• Spearheading efforts in recruitment and retention of study participants using the process of community engagement. The community engagement involved partnerships with NGOs and CBOs, doctors, youth and key opinion leaders.Project responsibilities: Recruitment and retention for Studies sponsored by National Institutes of Health (NIH) viz. among HIV discordant couples (HPTN 052), therapeutic trials for Adult HIV infected individuals under Adult AIDS Clinical Trial Group –ACTG), Neuro Dementia study among HIV infected individuals, studies among women for HIV prevention with intra vaginal rings &Domestic Violence Study.It’s a matter of pride to mention that HPTN 052 has been a landmark prevention trial that has shown 96% efficacy. This was a very challenging and sensitive trial where recruitment of participant was handled by me.I have played a crucial role in the first ever conducted phase 1, HIV Vaccine trial in India sponsored by International AIDS vaccine Initiative (IAVI). I was also part of the second trial.• Organize CAB members (Community Advisory Board) meeting regarding to sensitize them about NARI study regarding ethical issues and to take suggestion from them about ongoing studies at NARI. Connect with various area of PMC community, took several numbers of youth group meeting in between two months.• Completed Expansion Activities for recruitment and retention for HPTN 052 study in Maharashtra District i.e. Sholapur, Satara, Karahad, Phaltan, Panvel, Kolhapur and various Villages (Discordant couple). From this activity nearly 12 Discordant Couple enrolled in that particular study. Identify Non CIP NGOs (Non community Involvement plan NGOs) and arrange meeting with their representative regarding sensitize them about NARI ongoing research. Identify New Key person from NGOs Community (CIP area) & CBOs community. Overall administration and team management under Project.
