Civil Engineering Technologist
Current• Prepare and submit reports based on site visits and provide cost effective materials recommendations based on site issues/ conditions that align with the construction sites’ schedule and drawings specifications.• Attending construction sites to conduct geotechnical inspections on soil conditions, sewers and drainage systems, roads, highways, high-rise, commercial and residential building structures.• Performing compaction inspections on sewer surroundings, road granular base and subbase, asphalt bases, building footprints as well as testing concrete to ensure compliance to the site plans.• Performing soil condition inspections on residential sub-divisions to prevent future settlements and provide cost effective geotechnical recommendations to the clients.• Participate in the general daily routine of laboratory practices to conduct geotechnical/ Materials laboratory testing on soil, asphalt, concrete and aggregates.• Conduct equipment calibration and maintenance for the equipment being used for on-site materials inspections.• Test day to day materials samples at construction sites for the private sector and/or government contracts.• Compile and tabulate technical data to help in implementing site specific geotechnical plans by the senior civil engineers.• Conduct on site materials sampling to be sent to the laboratory for full compliance laboratory testing.• Supervise and direct construction crews on a day-to-day basis on projects involving materials. Site visits involve quality control and assurance to aggregates, asphalt, subgrades and concrete being used by the construction crews to ensure the work conducted on site complies with the site-specific drawings and geotechnical investigations.
