Reporting to the Global Head of Technical Operations, I lead the Platform team, currently made up of 5 engineers and responsible for BISim's hybrid cloud infrastructure. My role is a mix of management, technical leadership and hands on engineering. My small team looks after our on-prem servers, virtualisation (VMWare), AWS, Kubernetes clusters and business critical applications such as Gitlab.

Humminbgird Technologies (now part of Agreena) was an agritech startup specialising in machine learning assisted image processing to provide data to farmers and large agricultural companies. As the sole Devops Engineer I was responsible for all aspects of the company's devops and cloud infrastructure needs, from design to implementation and operations. Reporting directly to the CTO I have rebuilt the entire cloud infrastructure for the app and the data processing platform as a mix of Kubernetes (GKE) services and Serverless functions, and was coaching software engineers on devops practices.I've introduced observability using Prometheus/Thanos and Stackdriver, and Hashicorp Vault for managing secrets -- and even wrote some Python application code for downloading satellite imagery for our areas of interest.

Leading a small team of devops engineers our mission is to build infrastructure platforms and tooling for Ticketmaster's numerous dev teams. We offer each team the choice of their own Kubernetes cluster with lots of helpful add-ons (ingress, DNS, monitoring, CI) tailored for teams with containerised workloads; or a complete managed Chef ecosystem to plug into, for teams with long-lived VMs such as databases.

Working with a mostly US-based team I am responsible for the development and maintenance of various internal applications such as the custom incident and maintenance tracking system, VM provisioning / inventory tool, etc. This is essentially a full-stack developer role for these systems, database, backend, frontend, deployments, etc.

Joining an established infrastructure team looking after Ticketmaster's on-premises VM stack, my mission is to bring automation and modern devops practices to improve efficiency.

Working in an Agile environment as part of a team of 'geeks of all trades', I am setting up FT Technology's capacity management tools, writing some Puppet modules, random scripts and whatever else comes my way.

Linux systems setup, administration, automation, planning and tailoring software to the DIMG software stack. Plus trying to figure out which Java app is killing our servers again. Business as usual :)

I am doing sysadmin type stuff, but I am responsible for organising / setting up new servers, apps and services in various parts of the World, rather than running existing infrastructure.
