Air HR is a modular hub-and-spoke HR software platform designed for small & medium businesses. We founded Air in 2016 as a small team of 6 and the business has been profitable since 2017 with over 3,000 users in the UK (and some internationally).Air was acquired by US Group KarbonPay in July 2022.

The team is very lean, kept operational expenses low. The growth was achieved with own Whisk revenue* Developed and executed company roadmap, allowing for huge competitive advantage in the market and scale* Layed the foundation of Machine Learning services. That brought a lot of automation, which was especially critical while running a very small team in large scale. Later and more advanced ML-based solutions made a big contribution to company strategy and offered range of services.* Kept contributing to overall system architecture aiming for the combination of high performance, ease of maintenance and low running costs.Major technological changes made to:- Code infrastructure with Monorepo and efficient build pipelines- microservices orchestration with Kubernetes- Monitoring and tracing (Prometheus + Grafana, Jaeger)- analytics workload. Technical lead on core services, data processing, infrastructure, and APIs.* Designing and building data processing pipelines with real-time streaming solutions (Storm/Mesos/Kafka; Google Cloud Dataflow)* Design and implementation of real-time collaboration data-structures and APIs, using Concurrent Replicated Data Types (CRDT).* Designing storage layer on combination of NoSQL technologies for high-velocity denormalised data, optimised for low latency* System architecture as a set of distributed Thrift components developed in Scala, continuously deployed as Docker containers.* Establishing and optimising build processes, managing a complex graph of fine-grained components with Pants build system.* Automated infrastructure management with Salt and Puppet. Worked to automate university processes with requirements for high-performance. Designed and implemented distributed services architectures using the Twitter Scala stack, on standard University infrastructure. This foundation underpins later projects at the company.

Developing online casino games backend in Java. Worked on game logic and algorithms for a pipeline of new games. Co-designed and implemented mathematical models for games with application of probability theory.
