Upon joining MWH I was mostly working on landslip sites doing site investigations which involved geotechnical testings’, i.e. Hand Auger and DCP. The next few months was spent working on the “Geotechnical Drilling Programme for Jetties”, on various jetties on the outer islands including Vanua Balavu Island, Moala Island and Koro Island providing technical support (collecting samples and logging on GINT SOFTWARE) and supervising drilling works.Next it was onto Tender Evaluation for Bathymetric Surveying Services for Jetties. Most of my time was spent in the scoping of new and old/demolished causeways sites around Fiji that involved site investigations, geotechnical testing and Factual Report writing and also providing our clients (Fiji Roads Authority) with an options report outlining type of structure, location of structure and reasoning of the proposed remedies made for each causeway site encompassing cost per capita and other practical issues, these also involved making concept designs and design coordination with our Pune counterparts in getting design deliverables on time and within budgets Show less

NAUSORI & SUVA RD UPGRADE (NASRUP) – NADI N2 1A&1B AND N1 – WAF Graduate for the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) seconded to OPUS to manage material procurement issues that were delaying the Fiji Roads Authority NADI N2 Project.Involved in logistics, following up on WAF material procurement processes and ensuring that pipes and fittings required on the project were delivered to site on time so as to not cause delays on the project. NASEYANI DAM AND PIPELAYING PROJECT Involved in the early stages of estimating for concrete and steel reinforcement for the designed dam and subsequently involved in construction supervision as the pipeline route was being excavated after which he was appointed by WAF COO to be seconded to OPUS for NASRUP N2 1A & 1B and N1. AVG FILTERS Installation of Automatic Valveless Gravity Filters around the northern region in Labasa, Savusavu, and Nabouwalu on Vanua Levu and in Waiyevo and Bucalevu on Taveuni. Main duties involved setting out excavation profile and compilation of engineering drawings using AutoCAD.SOUTH TAVEUNI DESALINATION PLANT PROJECT Vilive was assigned to this project to assist in supervision of the works on the ground and prepare weekly progress reports. Works that were supervised and carried out included:1. Leveling and excavation of the Desalination plant site.2. The excavation of trenches for pipe laying.3. Installation of the 3 x Desalination Units and 3 x Gensets and 1 x Booster pump.4. Construction of sheds for Gensets and Booster Pump.5. Slope protection works of Desalination site against heavy wave actions.6. Installation of air valves along pipelines. PUPLIC SECTOR INVESTMENT PROGRAME Verifications of all potential new project sites where AC pipes were to be replaced and also did estimates for these works which will later be assessed and prioritized by management.
