As a kid, my grand dream was to be an army general because, let's face it, those uniforms looked cool! I pursued it passionately, playing war games, collecting guns and planting plastic bombs under unsuspecting beds. Guns and bombs made of plastic, of course!But, as John Lennon said, life happened when I was busy making plans.I accidentally found myself inside a Physics class room, instead of journalism & media studies. To find my zen, I became the editor of my college magazine, Loyola Herald, and spent my evenings hosting shows in the only radio station in the town, back in the ‘90s.I discovered my passion for marketing in my B school, only to unintentionally veer into banking and sales. Managed to steer my way back into Marketing during my stint in IBM.While the journey proved rewarding, ironically, the more I aimed for success, the further I strayed from my true aspirations. Borrowing a sentiment from the character, Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother, I found myself busy searching – searching for what I truly wanted in life.I found ‘meaning’ in Viktor Frankl’s 'Man's Search For Meaning’. I realized that, like happiness, success cannot be pursued; it must ensue, only happening as the unintended side effect of one's dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of surrendering to a person other than oneself.So when I turned 40, I hung my boots and opted to work with entrepreneurs, helping them grow their businesses through strategic Marketing pivots. I helped my friends at Beyond 8 navigate the Zero to One journey and evolve from a concept to a viable business. I helped a few more start ups on the way. I decided to do something more concrete and co-founded Meraki People with my Partner with the sole objective of helping organisations pivot on collective leadership. While Meraki People is my primary focus today, I also continue to advise tech start-ups & entrepreneurs to pivot their growth on marketing.But the journey continues.
