Being an undegraded student from LPU Punjab, Vinay has developed unique method of implementing a propulsion system for small satellites as well as spacecrafts that uses solar radiation instead of chemical or electric propulsion. It is well known that the solar sail utilizes solar radiation pressure to propel the satellites and spacecrafts. To achieve this a unique wing-shaped sail has been proposed with an actuating mechanism that allows thrust vector control on a satellite, aids in orbit transfers and capable for deep space propulsions. In 2022, a patent has been filled which is also published in IPO.Moreover, the same design is being tested as the main propulsion mechanism for LPUSat, which might become India's first solar sailing satellite for deep space observatory. The idea has been demonstrated on unique centrifugal deployment of the solar sail in international conference on Small Satellites and won 3rd prize under Project competition. The same study has been demonstrated in DeSSi- 2022 conference held in Bangalore to showcase the development of prototype of the solar sail with modular approach which could be easily integrated with CubeSats. Apart from that efforts have been made towards designing of India’s first ever deep space fastest travelling Spacecraft which uses solar sailing as the main propulsion system with a unique solar photonic assist maneuvers. This work has been discussed and presented in Indian Space Congress (ISC 2022) for which the nominee received the third best prize by Dr. Sateesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister, during presentation, he has discussed about the solar photonic assist maneuver sail craft can travel fastest into deep space reducing the time of flight to half of the conventional gravity assist method.
