• Through John Holland’s virtual internship program, I have gained knowledge on analysing design drawings of a commercial high-rise building located at 275 John St. Identifying changes in the design improved my attention to detail and critical thinking. • I have implemented my knowledge on reading the technical drawings through analysing the technical drawings of a bridge construction project and prepared concrete quantities required for the several elements of the bridge such as curtain wall, wing wall, masking wall, and abutments. Working on this task improved my appreciation of the estimation process and accuracy required. • The internship also tasked me with reviewing four different types of tenders received from subcontractors and providing recommendations to the Operations Manager on which subcontractor to award the concrete works package. This task improved my ability to read and interpret tenders. Comparing tenders developed my awareness of the decision-making process required to do so.
