About Vinay Antony Payyapilly

Over my lifetime, I have heard the end of the world predicted so many times that it is finally getting scary - I mean, someone will get that prediction right at some time, won't they? But my real takeaway is that humans will always find a solution - until we don't. While my education may not support this claim, I stay in a constant state of learning and adapting. If we accept that, then it is not surprising that I have always been eager to adapt new technologies; especially when those technologies brought me new knowledge. Starting out as a trainer at a computer institute, I moved into instructional design and then into product documentation (or technical writing, as they like to call it). I cannot claim to have planned any of it. Like a sailboat catching the best wind, I continue to look for opportunities that open exciting vistas of learning and ride it. So, it's not surprising that in my latest avatar I embraced ChatGPT and generative AI to help my organization of the time (Zenoti) reduce support tickets by 50%, which led to savings of $150000 in six months. Along the way, I have had the pleasure of leading some fine talent. From teams as large as 30 people to some as small as two. With these teams I have created Help solutions from scratch and also maintained well-set Help solutions. I have also had the pleasure of migrating a Help site from one platform to another. Conciously, I never let my professional responsibilities destroy my pursuit of creativity. I have blogged since the late 90s. In the early two thousands, I created my first podcast, which I ran for 95 episodes. Now I do two podcasts, Documentors Unplugged and Pavement Conversation (both available on your favorite podcasting platforms), while still continuing to blog at Pavement Views and write fiction on my Substack page - A Hoot in the Dark.My other passion is cycling. In 2018 I did the first Ride for the Children where I rode from Hyderabad to Bengaluru as a trigger to get family, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances to contribute to charity. In 2020, this was adopted by Zenoti to push their employee wellness program (Wave of Goodness).
