Aamchi is a community-led design, art, and experimental practice that uses the power of technology and design to engage in meaningful civic participation, particularly among marginalized and underrepresented communities, to create more equitable societies.

The confluence of art, architecture, and technology is the primary area of interest for Five Cross Architects. The fundamental operational principles of the office were formed based on Five guiding themes namely: Regeneration initiatives throughs means of development within urban and rural historic areas, Promoting undervalued rural historical components, Empowering through capacity building among communities located within these districts, Collaborating across a variety of design disciplines with local and international artists and craftsman, and undertaking initiatives that improve the quality of life of the community that resides within the periphery of the aforementioned development zones. This international practice concentrates on undertaking projects in the realms of heritage revitalization, including management, conservation, and preservation, as well as architectural development at the cultural, educational, and civic tiers, both at the private and public stages.Projects worked on: Urban design project - Dadar Market Revitalization.

The work essentially focused on creating a vibrant urban environment through citizen lead initiatives, (planning -by- doing). The interventions are aimed at building using short-term, low- cost, and scalable interventions to catalyse long-term change. Involved in participatory-design activities, volunteering events, documentation process of on-going and completed projects. Projects like transforming unused spaces under flyovers across Mumbai into vibrant public neighbourhoods, were really fascinating and altogether a different experience.

Worked on Re-Envisioning open spaces, which included designing of parks in and around Mumbai and several other landscape design projects.

I acquired knowledge of the sustainable and cost-effective technologies implemented here at E.A.R.T.H Architects. Such technologies include brick work, filler-slab, RCC slab using MP tiles as filler material, bamboo construction,laterite construction etc. I was involved with office work such as client meetings, design discussions, measured drawings of building and sites along with site visits of various ongoing projects in and around mumbai. Moreover, I did site measurements, hands-on and setting-out of plan on site. Further, worked on few residential and interior projects, which involved drafting of architectural details and furniture.Good learning experience overall.
