“The story of civilization is, in a sense, the story of engineering—that long and arduous struggle to make the forces of nature work for man's good.”— Lyon Sprague De Camp-Even after world-wide excitement upon the unveiling of tallest structure, Burj Khalifa died down, I found myself continuously driven to read articles about the building and other prominent civil engineering landmarks of the modern world. -These explorations gradually familiarized me with civil engineering concepts and guided me to do my UG study in Civil Engineering at the prestigious VIT University, India.-Of all the various aspects of the construction landmarks like buildings, bridges, and dams, what stood out most was the ability of the engineers to use the right kind of tools and materials to ensure structural stability over long periods. This had been my focus of study during most of my UG studies. -This interest and self-motivation led me to do Internships (L&T, RS Consultancy, Pratap Builders) and projects to gain experience, self-study and teach things related to the field (REVIT), develop Communication and People skills through extra-curricular activities, and finally do Masters. -Through MS in Civil Engineering at North Carolina State University, I gained advanced knowledge and professional skills that would stand me in good stead during my career. -Courses on Structural Analysis, Design of Prestressed and Reinforced Concrete Structures, Design of Steel Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Earthquake Engineering helped me build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills in my key area of interest. -Projects related to modeling of structures using SAP, Revit, and AutoCAD, under the NBC and AISC codes allowed me to understand the quality and concerns of design. -And now with an objective of attaining professional excellence and using my skills and experience for the company's growth, I am looking for a full-time position in an organization that suits my background and profile.
