What do I do: I’m the Founder and CEO of Arya.ai. Our goal is to democratize complex ‘AI’ but make it explainable, safe and aligned to user’s goals. Long version – I’m from ‘Rayachoti’, a small town in Andhra Pradesh, India. I’ve done my Bachelor and Master’s from IIT Bombay in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Computer Aided Manufacturing(CAM). My thesis was on “Using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in turbine engine failure prediction", in which I evaluated multiple activation functions. In College – I was a published author of two books (Is she the one? & ‘The ark and the aroma of the peril’) in my first two years, received a runner up award for my research project from ISHRAE and worked EdTech startup, Spaneda.com. All of this changed, once I started my master’s thesis in 2012/13. The sheer complexity and inefficiency of STEM research made me realize the knowledge explosion problem. Tools we used were very basic and didn’t guarantee the distillation required to find the right information and invest years of research. I started InvenZone.com along with Deekshith in an apartment outside IIT Bombay. The idea was to create a platform for researchers and build a STEM research assistant. We raised our first round in 2013 to hire a research team. Our initial approach was to train RNNs on research papers corpus on web and use that as the background for our assistant, do intelligent search and lot more. While we launched our first alpha in 2014/15, we realized the search was enormously better as compared to Google scholar but the answers from the assistant were not human enough and memory management was an issue. @Arya.ai: We pivoted the technology into the new product Arya.ai, as the deep learning workbench for enterprises. We worked with multiple fortune 500 companies across India and Europe. Later we found our product fit in BFSIs where we excelled in creating an Operating System for FSIs to expedite the deployment of ‘AI’ that is explainable, auditable and safe. I authored the patent on ‘Explainable AI-based decisioning management system and methods for processing financial transactions’ along with Shashwat where we introduced a new XAI algorithm and new approach using deep learning and for UW. Currently, we are working exhaustively around ML Explainability & Alignment. I’m a public speaker at multiple international conferences and events on topics such as AGI (TEDx 2017), Responsible 'AI' (CYPHER 2022, AI4 2023), Deep Learning in FSIs (Nividia GTC 2016, NASSCOM 2017) etc.

With our new product, AryaXAI, we focus to democratize responsible and safe AI across techniques. Arya.ai’s founders are named as ‘Forbes 30 Under 30’. Arya.ai was also named as ‘Top 61 global companies’ by CB Insights and received ‘AI Game Changer’ award from Nasscom. Arya.ai was part of leading industry accelerators organized by Swiss Re, SOCGEN, Microsoft & Oracle. Arya.ai was one of the initial members of Intel AI Builders program and also Nvidia Inception program. -
Ceo & FounderInvenzone Apr 2013 - May 2015Mumbai, Maharastra, InIn academic research, the first step is ‘Literature Review’. Researchers would spend 3-9 months to read papers go through the developments and shortlist a topic for their research. In 2013, more than 30 peer reviewed papers published every minute and Google Scholar and Scopus were simply doing a keyword. Knowledge overload is only going to get worse. ‘Knowledge’ suffocation is real and poses serious challenges to ‘Expert skills’. So, we started InvenZone in 2013 to solve the ‘search’ problem and to provide a smart ‘AI’ as an research assistant to STEM researchers. With a team of 7 people and Seed round in 2014, we built multiple Language models using Deep Learning during this time and built an ‘AI research assistant’ which can answer complex questions and very powerful search engine that can not do contextual search but also provide a very smart ranking of papers by predicting which research topic would go prominent in coming 3yrs and 5 yrs. We scraped the internet and indexed more than 30 million papers (almost 80% of database at that time) to build these language models. We tried multiple new ways to leverage this data. We pivoted from that idea as it had commercial viability issues and users were expectating an ‘Assistant’ that can provide a free-flow conversational debates. DL was not matured to deliver it at that time (2014/15) and capital was not available to deliver this idea completely . -
