Working as a Discipline Lead for Civil/Geotechnical Engineering within Tetra Tech Consulting and Engineering Services (CES). Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the design and development of plans and technical specifications for civil, geotechnical, and structural elements for renewable (solar and wind), industrial facilities, stream restoration and remediation projects. Responsible for general seller/doer support including proposal preparation and marketing; profit and loss management; business development; implementing engineering procedures; procuring subcontractors; staff planning/hiring; and supervision.

Engineering responsibilities were progressed from designing to leading the projects, and project management. Main duties consists of preparing the project scoping and pricing, boring contracts, managing the daily drilling activities, preparing laboratory testing plans; review and oversighting the production staff for the preparation of the Foundation/Geotechnical Engineering reports including the design calculations, project specifications, construction details and cost benefit analysis.Grown into the leadership position by excellently executing the project delivery; coordination and scheduling of project work with other discipline leads; project planning; general marketing support including proposal preparation and marketing planning; Client management and business development; developing department QA-QC processes; project management; staff development and mentoring; and department hiring.

Engineering responsibilities were progressed from designing to leading the projects. Oversight the production staff for foundation design analyses of various bridge and retaining wall structures for Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and PennDOT projects. Main duties included managing the daily drilling activities and laboratory tasks; reviewing the Geotechnical Engineering reports including the design calculations, cost benefit analysis, special provisions, construction details; and supervising the engineering, field and laboratory staff. Managed the AASHTO-Accredited Program and USACE certified soil and rock testing laboratory.

General duties were progressed in engineering design and analyses as started working on various PennDOT roadway and bridge reconstruction projects. All findings, design calculations and recommendations were presented in Foundation Design Reports. General Geotechnical Engineering work included boring inspection per PennDOT requirements, conducting properly planned field exploration programs, obtaining suitable subsurface soil and rock samples for laboratory testing. Also performed evaluation of the laboratory test data and physical characteristics of the subsurface samples in order to formulate engineering design parameters and recommendations for foundation design. The LRFD design analyses were performed based on PennDOT Design Manuals and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design standards. The geotechnical analyses performed included liquefaction analysis to identify Seismic Hazard and induced settlement, consolidation induced settlement, slope stability analysis, bearing resistance for shallow foundations, end bearing capacity and skin friction for drilled shafts, driven piles analysis, lateral deflections analysis and other geotechnical analysis depending on the appropriate foundation type.Gained PennDOT Level-1 and Level-2 drilling inspector certifications and promoted as a Supervisor of AMRL-certified soil testing laboratory. Performed in-house QA/QC on the geotechnical analysis performed on various bridge and retaining wall structures prepared by other consultants.

General duties progressed in engineering field in terms of responsibilities and designing the foundations for the various structures. Some of the design calculations performed were liquefaction analysis to identify seismic hazard and induced settlement, consolidation induced settlement, slope stability analysis, bearing capacities for shallow foundations, end bearing capacity and skin friction for deep foundations, and other geotechnical analyses depending on the appropriate foundation type. Additional duties were reviewing potential project requirements and site characteristics in order to propose a properly planned field, laboratory, and engineering procedure; assisted in designing foundations and providing appropriate foundation drawings; analyzing construction practices; and assisted in providing construction and post-construction recommendations when difficulties arise. Worked on various projects during construction stage to ensure conformance with geotechnical recommendations. Worked as a field inspector for the installation of stone piers, compaction groutholes, Micropiles, H-piles, and drilled shafts.

Worked on levee projects in New Orleans. Upon completion of levee project, started working on geotechnical, environmental, and construction related projects in Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. During this period, responsibilities progressed from conducting the field procedures for various projects to analyzing the data compiled from those procedures and developing soil parameters, engineering analysis and recommendations for appropriate foundation types, ground improvement techniques, and construction inspection. General duties were to stake the borings at the site, collect soil sample, and visually classify the soils. Based on the project requirement, appropriate foundation type and associated geotechnical parameters, assigned appropriate geotechnical laboratory tests, reviewed laboratory test results, and prepared boring logs and subsurface soil profiles. Some of the elements of design and analysis consisted of settlement calculations using field SPT values; bearing capacity by the use of dry unit weights, cohesion and friction angles; piles end bearing capacity and skin friction.Also got the opportunity to work as a Geotechnical Project Manager in Houston, Texas office. In addition to general duties described above, developed field and laboratory programs for each project based on preliminary site plans, design loads, and type of construction. Worked as a project lead and was responsible for managing the projects from beginning to completion. Additional duties consisted of reviewing and submission of proposals to the clients and submission of final foundation reports.
