Day to day, I'm usually running a 13" 10 colour Mark Andy 2200 producing prime labels for the food and beverage, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical markets. Jobs are commonly ran in multi-die configurations (face cut, butt cut, perf, air eject, tag) with slit face or liners for customers with special applications. Conveyor/stacker attachments are also regularly used for customers who require sheets of labels rather than traditional rolls. Many jobs also require extended content options such as liner print, adhesive print (or both) or peel and reseal. Most work is commonly completed with a combination of UV, water, and film inks with a fine attention to detail for colour via Pantone matching system and spectrodensitometer. Often times we work with clients directly on the press room floor for customer press approval to achieve ultimate satisfaction in finished product.I perform many maintenance duties around the shop including by not limited to resurfacing air clutches, oil changes, drive shaft and gear box maintenance. Presses that are in optimal running condition produce a better final product and represent our brand to our customer better. I've trained several new employees to the company over the years with no prior narrow-web flexo experience into valuable operators.In April of 2018, I was trained on the Mark Andy Digital One press as a part-time operator. It was a good introduction to a fully servo driven press with a dry toner based print engine. And again, I was responsible for swapping out all consumables within the digital print engine.That press made way for our brand new Mark Andy Digital Pro 3 semi-rotary press in April of 2020. One of the very first in Canada. A massive step forward in digital technology and tooling for us. With the ability to now print white before the print engine at a true 77FPM, there's no telling what markets this press will take us to.FTA Level III Certified Press Operator since 2011.
