I joined MITLL as a subject matter expert to lead efforts like the AMIC data hub, a large‐scale data warehousing and insights platform for AI/ML data. I act as both technical and programmatic lead on various projects with a focus on top-level architecture and quickly developing a capability for high availability cloud software to meet our customer needs.

I rejoined B3 as a principal engineer working from the Boston area to focus on growing the R&D organization and help develop the next generation of wearable environmental sensors. My projects focus on hardware, firmware, and software for ultra low-power blast sensor systems and the data pipeline they feed into. The complex systems I've designed aggregate data from around the world into a secure cloud environment for research and health monitoring of blast.Every day B3 works hard to measure the unseen and protect those who are protecting us. Directly managed a seven person team developing highly scalable software services. Recruited and grew engineers for success. Supported agile software processes improvement, cross-team communication, and conflict resolution. Enabled teams to take forward-looking technologies and build massive features like Whispersync for Voice, interactive captions, and audio search driving over 60 million dollars in revenue. Successfully transitioned a fifteen person organization to remote work through the 2020 pandemic without impacting our quarterly goals.

Acted as system lead for multi-million-dollar R&D projects including development of ultra-low-power wearable systems. Acted as the primary technical interface in R&D partnerships and develop Interface Control Documents that drive the design cycle. Developed models in MATLAB and Simulink to determine error sources and weaknesses in six-axis wearable inertial measurement units and blast exposure measurement systems. Developed and verified filter/algorithm chains in MATLAB for final implementation on low-power micro-controller units.Designed and implemented communication protocols for use in wearable sensor systems. Manage protocol implementations across UART, SPI, and BLE interfaces. Implemented and supported BLE protocol stacks on mobile, embedded, and PC platforms. Translated algorithms to efficient C/C++ for use on target hardware under low-power conditions. Develop interface code to translate algorithm libraries to desktop, mobile, and firmware applications. Developed interfaces to integrate algorithm libraries with modeling and simulation tools. Developed tools in python, MATLAB, Java, and C# to rapidly analyze sensor data and evaluate accuracy and robustness. Owned ongoing development of Android mobile application.Acted as technical program lead in large-scale R&D partnerships. Developed proposals including ROM budget and schedule for New Product Development efforts. Developed project milestones and deliverables for the core engineering team. Work with the quality system to refine and improve R&D processes particularly in the arenas of assessing project risk and developing product qualifications. Establish good configuration management and engineering change practices including introduction of JIRA issue tracking and SVN versioning tools. Performed systems modeling/analysis duties. Leveraged MATLAB and Simulink to simulate flight actuator and associated test systems focused heavily on PID control loops and EM response. Designed structured models to predict test rig stiffness in MATLAB. Developed revised frequency analysis techniques for use in analysis of 787-9 actuator tests. Developed several supporting python scripts to reduce data for use in analysis and modeling. Developed re-usable scripts to automate pass/fail determination in actuator performance tests. Worked with engineers support the A350XWB actuator models including modeling of EM and software systems in actuation control.Performed project engineering duties for development of new test equipment for aerospace qualification test programs on the order of hundreds of thousands of dollars in scope. Remotely teams in India to ensure completion of project milestones in a risk-based waterfall management workflow. Developed budget and schedule for large-scale flight actuator test projects that coordinated multiple sites and teams. Acted as a primary contact in PMRs for 787-9 electro-mechanical actuators. Developed a technical robustness test program for the A350XWB actuation system under the direction of the VP of engineering to reduce risk of in-field failure and evaluate the efficacy of existing qualification processes.

Design and implementation of full CMS web solutions for both corporate environments and smaller-scale environments. Significant direct-customer interaction, development of application specific tools, and long-term support.

Researched RoHS and REACH materials for future due diligence projects. Investigated a chemical content / bill of materials relational databasing system. Automated LCR testing equipment to decrease testing and data analysis time significantly.
