I ended my time in the Swamp. I was able to breathe life into City-State Brewing and get if off the ground and on a stable path. After almost 3 years i just could not work in DC anymore due to stress, crime, violence, lack of affordable housing, the worst wealth to poverty ratio ive ever encountered. There are two Washington DC's; the DC of the monuments and million dollar neighborhoods which is what is depicted by the media, and the DC that the rest of us lived in; A WAR ZONE.I am glad to be out of it and living in wonderful Tacoma working for a first class operation making beer for happy people!

I moved to Colorado, after a 5 year paid San Diego beach vacation, to take over stewardship of this eclectic brewery/brewpub in sunny Colorado. 10 bbl custom brewhouse, featuring many styles, rotating seasonal's and an amazing sour program! I was tasked with making this award winning brewery relevant again in this major craft beer market. Upon having brought the Pumphouse into the 21st Century i realized i just didn't fit in here.

due to an unfortunate fire at the alehouse, I was forced to take another position at this wonderful brewpub in downtown La Jolla. Eclectic food and a casual environment make this a go to place in La Jolla. I redefined house brands and making them more consistent. My beers were once again voted in the top ten "best of local brewpub" category in UT readers poll. Four years in a row my beers were voted in the top ten in the most competitive beer market in the world.

I decided to return to school for technical certification at Hocking College. With my Twenty years in brewing profession, I was able to assist Brewmaster, Brad Clark in day to day operations while attending Hocking College as a fulltime student. I helped design and implement a sour aging and bottling program and was able to use yeast cultures from here to study in the lab. Mr. Clark has garnered a wide reputation for barrel aging and sour beers.
