Want to know how video games, programming, travels and encounters led a 90s kid to UX?Here’s my story. As a 90s little geek I ended up studying computer science at university. I have always enjoyed problem solving and technical aspect of programming, but then I realized that my true motivation came from knowing the meaning of my work. That’s why I chose to specialize in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) where I recognized myself in the philosophy of putting the user at the center of the design process in order to provide useful and usable products. For my first year of master’s degree I chose to leave my comfort zone and go study HCI at the university of Calgary in Canada. This amazing year abroad pushed me in pursuing my studies in this field and started my addiction to travel. After graduating, a UI designer internship led me to my first job on a project involving UI on a tablet app. As we were a start-up-like little team, I worked as a full stack developer with usability and user experience in mind. This 3 years’ experience allowed me to improve my programming, UX/UI design and soft skills, making my overall work and attitude more professional. I have learned a lot and I have met very interesting, skilled and motivating people, some I can call friends today. From my experience acquired in work, personal life and travels, people have always been inspiring me. During my last trip, backpacking in Peru for a month, I realized that people are everything and that I would love to work closer from people.I came back with the will of doing less programming and focus my work on UX design.Just like programming, I see UX design as a problem-solving approach but at a human level. Meeting people, empathizing, understanding their needs give you the opportunity to help them, it gives purpose and meaning to your work. This is why I want to wake up every day!If you got a UX job opportunity to offer or if you are interested in my profile, please get in touch or connect.
