HD Telecom Inc. is a Telecommunications service and product provider. We are providing Internet service, Phone service, IPTV service to our residential and business customers. We also provide surveillance camera, access control and smart home solutions and products. We specialize in WiFi and Ultra-High Density (UHD) WiFi systems for schools, hospitals, hotels, universities, stadiums, smart cities serving tens to hundreds of thousand of people.

• Firmware and device driver development: Develop firmware for MIPS SoC in-house gateway devices, including boot loader customization, driver implementation for Ethernet and Etherswitch chipsets, and kernel module implementation• Quality Assurance: design and implement product acceptance tests and testing automation, conduct and supervise Q&A testing, mentor new lab members for TELoIP, collect and manage bug and bug fix reports• Automated provisioning system: gather requirements from Operations department, conduct the PoC testing, design and implement the provisioning system, coordinate with Web development team to implement the web GUI, coordinate with Operations department to conduct user acceptance testing, user training and application deployment • Product development management: plan projects’ timelines according to development plans and available resources, manage in-house and outsourcing development projects, coordinate internal development teams and external outsourcing teams, and participate in the product release note preparation• Successfully deployed the Q&A process which is currently in use at TELoIP, developed firmware for two new MIPS SoC gateway devices, successfully deployed the Auto provisioning system to Operations department, participated in multiple new product releases at TELoIP, trained and mentored three new lab employees.

• Designed and implemented a Rate Adaptation Algorithm for IEEE 802.11 systems to improve the overall network performance and/or minimize the Access Point power consumption, measured and analyzed Wifi signals in different environments for the system calibration, algorithm development, and performance evaluation• The team consisted of one postdoctoral fellow, one Ph.D. and two Master students.

• Developed a channel prediction algorithm for next-generation broadband wireless communications systems, e.g., LTE-A and WiMax• Developed a new power control technique for broadband wireless systems based on the new channel predictor• Evaluate performance by both analytical analysis and numerical simulation.

• Worked on CANARIE Disaster Response Network Enabled Platform project. • Collaborated with UWO campus police, physical plan department, and hospital to study and simulate a disaster scenario at UWO in Matlab and Simulink.

• Develop a new characterization and modeling technique for MIMO wireless communications systems• Develop a new multi-antenna Synthetic Aperture Radar technique to reduce the number of required antenna elements and maintain required precision• Develop and validate a theoretical model for the Doppler effects caused by mobile reflectors on received signals.• Studied the effects of the stationary structures and moving components (wind span) of the wind turbines on analog and digital TV signals.

• Worked on the NSERC Canadian strategic project on terrestrial digital television as the principle research engineer. • Conducted measurements to collect DTV signals in different environments, including urban, suburban, rural, and highway sites using mobile receiver with receive antenna diversity. • Analyzed the recorded signals to extract system and channel parameters. • Investigated DTV signal reception and conducted channel characterization for mobile channels with reception diversity.

Setup the EDA laboratory. Prepared the project proposal, including equipment requirements, personnel and funding proposal, and research plan for the first 5 years. The project was approved and commenced in 2004.

• Worked on Bandwidth Manager Project. Developed and implemented a Bandwidth Manager System in Linux Kernel. • Worked in Postech Seamoby Working group on Candidate Access Router (CAR) Discovery protocol which is used in the seamless handoff procedure for IPv6.• Worked in Postech Mobile IP project. Upgraded Postech Mobile IP implementation from Linux Kernel 2.0.36 to Linux Kernel 2.4. • Worked on WiFi QoS Project. Developed and implemented a packet scheduler for IEEE 802.11 networks. This was a major contribution to my Ms. thesis.

Worked on project KHCN-01-07 – Vietnamese vowel processing. Collected and analyzed voice recordings in order to extract principal parameters for Vietnamese vowels without tones.

Developed educational software for secondary students using Macromedia Director and Macromedia Authorwave applications. One of these products was awarded the Bronze Medal for Young Talented Students in the 7th annual National IT Week in November 1997.

Developed a sub-system of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system for VMEP Co., Ltd. This sub-system was handled to end-users and effectively operated in January 1996.
