A a second lieutenanant, this was my first duty assignment upon graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy. It was a huge learning experience for me, as I found myself leading airmen and briefing Wing leadership daily. While USAFA provided the foundation, this is where I really learned to be a follower and a leader, while developing a strong work ethic, high standard of professionalism, and attention to detail.It was extremely rewarding to play such a pivotal role in the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) mission as part of the 36th Munitions Squadron. I was responsible for the storage and accountability of a $1B conventional munitions stockpile within a 5,500-acre munitions storage area at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. As Materiel Flight Commander, I supervised the training, evaluation, and daily activities of over 70 Air Force personnel in the transportation and storage of explosives and sensitive components, including small arms ammunition, missiles and bombs. As Production Flight Commander, I oversaw the assembly, transportation, and loading of live weapons, while ensuring adherence to safety standards, execution of standard operating procedures, and compliance with Air Force and DoD regulations.

While deployed to Joint Base Balad as part of United States Forces - Iraq (USF-I), I was responsible for the security, accountability, and transportation of U.S. Military and Department of Defense property within the Iraq Joint Operations Area (IJOA) during Operation New Dawn. As the Defense Contracting Management Agency's (DCMA) planner for Northern Iraq, I worked with government and contractor representatives to coordinate base closures during the drawdown of U.S. forces in Iraq. I monitored property disposition and reallocation, service cessations, logistics, and civil augmentation for 23 sites in IJOA, accounting for roughly 170,000 lines of government property worth $1.2 billion. In addition, I implemented various contingency operations contracts in support of the Contingency Contracting Administration Services (CCAS) mission and prepped DCMA for successful transition to the Department of State's follow-on mission.
