In order to pursue my interest, I took up a new graduate at ASB to gain industry experience as a graduate software developer. During my rotations across the tech & ops team at ASB, I have had the opportunity to experience and develop skills in:- Technology policy review- Working in a software development team environment- Big picture planning

I have given the opportunity to second to the Digital team within PwC where I can further develop my understanding of software development cycles and best practice. I am splitting my time between the low-code solution delivery team and learning & development in the meantime to build up a foundation to assist the backend team in future projects.Main area of development:- API development using ASP.NET- Understanding Azure tools- Working in a software development team

In my current employment, my role evolved as I gradually moved from being a tax graduate to a data-heavy associate. I play a key role in both internal and client-facing support as I incorporate the many new skills I learn from the job and self-studies. My key achievements/responsibility in this role: - Integration with the Xero API framework for a catered database solution- Product owner of the National Tax Return tracker and other automation projects- Key member in the launch of a new service to provide financial wellbeing dashboards to 10+ clients- Experience in developing automated solutions for both clients and internal teams- Performed data cleansing services and proactively providing on-going data training to internal teamsTechnologies Used: - Python (including REST API integration and testing with Postman)- SQL- Microsoft Azure Suite- Alteryx, UI Path, Power Platform

I was a part of projects that will eventually serve an important backbone to the DNC's operation. In my first few months I created and maintained a decision database for the Dispute Resolution Service, an alternative to mediation and litigation on disputes regarding licensing of domain names. I was also a part of the .nz policy reform, a joint effort between the DNC and its parent company, InternetNZ, to establish a governing policy to the operations of the DNC. As a regulator, DNC's policy document will go on to affect the 700,000+ active domains ending in '.nz'. Aside from the two main projects, I supported the other staff in numerous other smaller scale projects, including the development of a new website.

I was fortunate enough to be awarded the Summer Research Scholarship at the University of Auckland and given the chance to work as an assistant for Rob Batty, a senior lecturer at the University. This experience is hugely beneficial and allowed me to take part in an interesting piece of academic research. Practising my researching skills under an expert in trade mark law has boosted my interest in intellectual property law and I could not have asked for a better way to spend the summer.

Over the course of my internship with PwC, I have developed both my understanding of corporate tax and my ability to navigate through various tasks at a timely manner. This was a fresh experience that gave my insight into what could be waiting for me at the end of my studies. PwC was the perfect space to continue developing my strengths in workload management and improve on past weaknesses.

After spending another year as a supervisor, I was given another promotion - to become a Duty Manager during my university studies. Stepping into management level was challenging at first, since I had to adapt a brand new mindset, as well as a different series of responsibilities. However, I am confident in my ability to handle the day-to-day operations and be responsible for my patrons and staff.

Over the course of my part time employment, I have been offered a promotion to take up the role of supervising the regular operations of the cinema complex. It has been an enriching experience to be given a leadership within the company.

While studying for my degree in University, I have undertaken a part time job to support myself. With this opportunity, I encounter people outside of my cohort and gain experience in customer service and day-to-day interactions - even with the more difficult customers.
