During my internship, I was exposed to the design process of designing steel framed buildings. Shadowing people through "the snake", I was able to learn the process of how their buildings go from bid to fabrication. I did full design of all steel elements in buildings through training jobs that did not go into production. The remainder of my internship was spent developing anchor bolt plans and reaction packets for the foundation engineer of the project. This involved full design of secondary steel, longitudinal bracing, and ordinary moment frames in order to accurately trace the loads down to the baseplate of the building. From here, I designed the anchor rods for this load to be transferred into the foundation.

I assisted graduate students primarily on research funded by the SCDOT. The goal of the project was to find cost effective ways to repair concrete bridge decks in order to keep them safe for continued use. The idea was to test different forms of non-invasive reinforcement such as, bolting steel plates to the underside of the concrete bridge deck in order to see how much this will increase its loading capacity. In this position, I ran concrete loading tests, set up moment frames, tested yielding of steel coupons, ran data analysis of the tests, and assisted in creating graphs for presentation to the SCDOT. I worked on other research as well that dealt with the pullout strength of epoxy vs non epoxy coated rebar, the strength of cross laminated timber, finding the best mixture for high strength masonry, and ultimate loading capacity of wood shear wall.

As a shooting sports instructor, I was tasked with teaching the campers on safe handling and use of firearms. I served as the shooting sports director in the summer of '21 which required leadership in ensuring that my staff were teaching proper safety and responsibility of firearms to the campers. I also had to ensure that all firearms were secure when not in use. At the end of the summer, I was tasked with taking inventory of all equipment used during the program time.
