IP Director (80 countries), I supervise (4 people) and work with other departments as a true business partner so as to adequately protect innovations and the business activities, and manage all subjects related to Intellectual Property including public tenders and cybersecurity issues. My ability to explain legal issues and my business oriented approach have given me the ability to link business and intellectual property. After obtaining my law school degree, I worked in a law firm, but soon turned to the corporate world given my business acumen. Over the years I have continued educating and informing myself to meet these challenges and be abreast of changes in the profession, first at CEIPI in Strasbourg and then by becoming an inhouse IP attorney. Currently as IP Director I'm passionate about transverse communication. This enables the IP department to put intellectual property at the service of business challenges by finding the most appropriate solutions to protect IP assets worldwide. My ability to easily communicate with all levels of hierarchy facilitates risk analysis and enables me to find pragmatic solutions validated by operational (technical) teams. This enables rapid decision-making. The challenge for a company is to find solutions that allow it to exploit its innovation freely, while preventing competitors from exploiting them. The most relevant IP tools (depending the country) have to be selected taking into account operational and budget constraints to protect and defend innovations. My ability to communicate with all levels of hierarchy optimizes risk analysis and enables me to find pragmatic solutions validated with operational staff. This enables rapid decision making. Tomorrow the companies that are the most agile in protecting their innovations linked to the internet of Things, AI, the metaverse and the transition to a sustainable economy will enjoy the strongest growth. Those companies that know how to protect themselves and to react to a growing cyberthreat will be the most competitive.
