Systems Engineering is a method used to improve the (building) process by dividing a complex project into (sub) systems. These systems are connected to each other to make them more manageable. The ultimate goal of Systems Engineering is to create a product that fits the needs and expectations of the customer and stakeholders. In the course "Systems Engineering" for Civil Engineering I assist the students to use this method with the help of Relatics. In this web-based environment, information used in the Systems Engineering process can be stored and linked with each other.Systems Engineering is een methodiek om het (bouw) proces te verbeteren, door een complex project te verdelen in systemen en deze op een handelbare manier te managen en te verbinden met elkaar. Het ultieme doel van Systems Engineering is het ontwikkelen van een product dat past bij de eisen en verwachtingen van de klant. Binnen de opleiding Civiele Techniek assisteer ik bij de lessen ''Systems Engineering" met het software programma "Relatics". In dit programma worden de stappen die bij Systems Engineering van belang zijn doorlopen. Het programma wordt gevuld met informatie die met elkaar wordt gelinkt.

Systems Engineering, BIM and Model Based Systems Engineering for integrated contracts:The construction branch is dominated by traditional forms of procurement, where the design and construction phases are contracted out to other parties. But several factors, such as the lack of integration and effective communication, uncertainty, changing expectations of the client, complexity and a changing environment result in the choice of alternative forms. One of these forms is the integrated contract (UAC-IC, or Uniform Administrative Conditions for Integrated Contracts). In this contract the design and construction phases, and possible other phases like maintenance finance and operations are carried out by one party: the contractor. This means that the contractor is responsible for these phases. Besides this, important contractual conditions apply to the integrated contract. These new responsibilities and conditions ask for a new way of working. The contractor has to take the initiative in the process, has to listen more carefully to the customer and has to work in a more structured way. In literature a combination of Systems Engineering (SE) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) is proposed to do this. “Systems Engineering is used to capture the requirements and interfaces in a structured way. BIM can be used to visualize the solution and to unlock the information in an integrated model. This model can be used to verify the requirements”. The availability of literature about the combination is scarce, but some papers speculate about the use of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). This method helps to verify requirements by means of a BIM model and can therefore be beneficial for integrated contracts. In this paper the application of a combination of SE, BIM and MBSE for an UAC-IC project is examined.

The research is about the connection between Systems Engineering and BIM, with the use of Revit and Relatics.Dit is een vervolg op het onderzoek naar de koppeling tussen BIM (Building Information Modelling) en Systems Engineering, die ik tijdens de minor BIM heb gedaan.Het onderzoek gaat dieper in op de materie. De softwareprogramma's Revit en Relatics worden toegepast bij dit onderzoek.

During this intership I worked on the project "House of Simek" and some engineering tasks, for example making and preparing drawings for an existing school.De stage bij Jorissen Simonetti Architecten in Rijssen staat in het teken van het ontwerp en de uitwerking daarvan. Gedurende deze periode heb ik gewerkt aan het project ''Droomhuis van Simek''. Daarnaast heb ik diverse bouwkundige taken verricht, zoals het uittekenen van een uitbreiding bij een bestaand schoolgebouw en het maken van diverse bouwkundige details.
