Created standardized documentation, processes, and custom actions for use in organization’s locked down workstation environment.- Supervised 6 contract packagers allowing over 300 applications to be packaged and ready for deployment within 4 months.- Designed and implemented redesigned software repository file structure allowing for global DSF mount points and eliminating delays in software distribution.- Improved quality and reduced time to package applications by creating custom actions for standardized code used in all MSI and EXE format installation packages.- Developed standard packaging documentation reducing the number of documents and time required to prepare, per package, while providing an increase in usable information for several teams. The new documentation format is used for both validated and non-validated applications.- Implemented packaging / documentation process for validated applications that removed the need for per-installation OQ documentation and allowed the distribution of validated applications using automated methods (SCCM / SMS) saving 1 - 5 hours per installation while preserving validated status.- Created scripts for the SCCM / SMS team that automated the creation of distribution groups from client provided spreadsheets.- Created scripts to assist with the management of client PCs with administrator rights.- Created PST backup process and scripts allowing all staff members within organization to back up Outlook PST files to their redirected home directory location. This provided a rapidly deployable solution to a chronic high impact problem.- Created library of script code ‘snippets’ and samples of commonly used routines increase speed of application packaging and improve training opportunities. I eventually became the manager over a small group that specialized in Capacity planning and Disaster Recovery. Searle was purchased by Monsanto who moved the mainframe operations to St. Louis and I became a member of the newly created UNIX teams to bring "mainframe caliber" tools to that environment. In 1998 Monsanto outsourced IT to IBM Global Services where I took a position leading the team that implemented SMS, Packaged software, and designed and implemented login scripts for the Windows desktop environment. In 2001 Pharmacia purchased Monsanto and I was re-insourced to help with the integration of the Monsanto environment into Pharmacia. I was a also member of the Workstation Engineering team packaging software and working with a team to develop global packaging standards. In 2003 Pfizer purchased Pharmacia and shortly afterwords closed all Chicago area locations.5 companies without ever leaving. Show less
