Lead the technical strategy to launch new Managed Security Services business at managed services company. In 18 months went from no security revenue to a fast growing MSS business with Dark Web, Security Assessment, Advanced End Point Monitoring, a SOC and managed SIEM. The project included a mix of new software development, acquisition and partnering with security vendors.

Promoted to develop 3- to 5-year managed security service roadmap for one of the largest tech companies in the world. Analyzed existing managed security service line of business. Applied superior knowledge of current computer security solutions and technologies, good security intuition, and strong problem-solving skills to develop and deliver an innovative long-term computer security strategy to executive management. Proposed a modern, next-generation model of managed security service delivery that incorporated cloud computing, correlation, tiered service, and enhanced detection of security incidents. Articulated business benefits and technological advantages of this strategy, later adopted by Dell.

Promoted to lead creation of a strategic Big Data solution for tracking, monitoring, and recording security incidents. Led multiple software engineering teams with up to 10 people on each team. - Created a Big Data solution for security log data from server, network and IT infrastructure devices architected on Hadoop and Hive and deployed on Cloudera software.- Architected a threat detection platform that consolidated data from disparate sources, increased efficiency of access, extended retention period to months, enabled access to 100% of all documented events, and allowed us to alert our customers to new and emerging online threats.- Developed patented methods that improved the security of password management and the handling of sensitive information by the SaaS application. Agile SCRUM Master: delivered an endpoint Security Service-as-a-Service (SaaS) software product hosted in Amazon AWS could computing environment that enabled the application of threat intelligence to the detection of network security incidents and supported timely and effective incident-remediation efforts by response personnel.Attended security conferences and exchanged information on and best practices in computer security.

Served as the most senior IT engineer and Team Lead in the Operations Group providing tactical Internet security solutions to Fortune 100 customers. Personally interacted with customer representatives. Designed effective computer security solutions for large companies, foreign governments, and military clients.Designed and led the implementation of a horizontally scalable network and security device health monitoring application that used open-source technology to replace legacy non-distributed monitoring applications and support business growth. Authored device health monitoring scripts in JavaScript to detect incidents, degradation and device failures in managed security devices covering all the major security vendors’ IDS and firewall products such as Check Point Firewall1, Sourcefire, ISS, McAffee, Juniper Netscreen, Cisco ASA, SEIM systems and general purpose Linux servers. Led the security compliance audit effort and the development of features enabling cost-effective delivery of security monitoring and management services to major corporate customers allowing them to meet PCI DSS, HIPAA and FFIEC regulatory compliance.

Following SecureWorks’ purchase of Verisign, led the migration effort of security applications and infrastructure from legacy platforms to a unified service delivery platform. Reduced the detection time of firewall, router, IDS, IPS, IPSEC VPN and syslog server outages from weeks to minutes after a device failure.Planned, managed, and led the team effort to migrate legacy security applications from general purpose Linux servers onto standardized Linux-based appliances, allowing for easier management, more consistent service delivery, and improved application performance of security event monitoring.

Recruited by a prominent Internet security company to manage design and rollout of features and functionality for Linux-based security appliances deployed at customer locations. Drove creation of advanced tools detecting and predicting security application failures on customer networks. Visibly improved service consistency, security event correlation, and reliability of security event monitoring.Led international expansion of managed security services in Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and Mexico. Provided training and support for partners launching managed security services in their home countries.  Created new operation center team dedicated to the support and maintenance of customer security devices. Oversaw and executed staffing, creation of processes, and development of related tools, driving improved service delivery and higher customer satisfaction and customer retention.

Led strategic transformation of a startup’s network and server performance monitoring tool into a multi-tenant network management monitoring suite suitable for managed service providers. Enabled the startup to acquire multiple new business partners.Redesigned and implemented a new network VPN architecture. Eliminated capital costs associated with adding new customers. Reduced time and complexity required to onboard new customers.
