As the Global Accounting & Reporting Manager a.i. I was responsible for:• Managing a team of 12 finance employees in their day-to-day activities at the HQ in the Hague;• Supervising the performance of the finance departments of the country offices in 17 countries;• Taking into account the vast cultural differences of employees in the Hague and in the country offices in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America during the communication with others and supervision of the country offices;• Leading the process of the world-wide year-end closure and collection of the PBC list for the auditor;• Preparing the consolidated financial statements of the stichting;• Handling the calculations and estimations for complex items in the financial statements;• Coordinating the audit process and acting as the first point of contact for the external auditor;• Calculating and determining the consequences of a ‘prior period reporting restatement’ for the financial statements.

As a Holding Manager/ Corporate Controller at Makro it was my responsibility to:• Maintain the capital and financial structure of the international holding company of Makro which is located in the Netherlands. These activities were done in collaboration with the board of Makro Netherlands and the legal team;• Handle changes in the structure such as liquidations of entities, acquisitions and sales of subsidiaries;• All fiscal (non-HR) related matters in the Netherlands ranging from preparing the CIT return to creating a tax control framework for VAT for the Dutch tax authorities;• Prepare the (consolidated) financial statements of the Dutch entities and convert the IFRS internal administration to Dutch GAAP;• To support the audit of the Dutch financial statements and any other audit assignments performed by the external auditor;• Preparing the budgets and forecasts for the (non-operational) entities;• To prepare and apply for the COVID related subsidies and grants and handle the subsequent audits for the final payments;• Managing a team of up to 3 people, ranging from employees with more than 20 years experience, up to new employees;

Being a Senior Financial Account Manager at Intertrust means that I:• Am responsible for all financial and fiscal matters of my clients, consisting of 70 entities for approximately 30 clients;• Manage a team of 3 employees, ranging from trainees to employees with several years of experience;• Prepare consolidated financial statements in Dutch GAAP and IFRS;• Manage the preparation of the statutory accounts of clients by the team members and review the prepared accounts;• Handle complex accounting issues such as acquisitions, mergers and changes in accounting policies;• Manage the audit of several international client structures, of which some are Private Equity owned;• Prepare, analyze and manage the internal budget for my team and that I am held accountable for the realization of these budgets;• Work with clients, accountants, tax advisors and lawyers as well as with internal parties like business unit management, credit control and internal finance to provide the clients with the highest quality of service, within my commercial budget.
