Second line supervisor in one of the top three busiest Nassau County Police Precincts. This Precinct is merged with the 6th Precinct. This position is in essence an Operations Manager position for 1/4 of Nassau County's Police Business.
Police Sergeant Investigator, Applicant Investigation Unit, Sept. 2013-Oct. 2015.As a Sergeant assigned to the Nassau County Police Applicant Investigation Unit, I am responsible to assist the Nassau County Civil Service Commission. My unit performs background investigations at the direction of the Commission. All applicants for Nassau County employment undergo a thorough background check which includes criminal checks, employment checks, educational checks, neighborhood canvass, drug screening, medical examination, physical agility exam, psychological screening and in some cases, a polygraph examination. My unit is responsible for performing these necessary background checks for all personnel to be employed by the District Attorney’s Office, Nassau County Sheriff’s Department, Village Police Departments, Probation Department, Garden City Fire Department and the Nassau County Police Department. I am tasked daily with the supervision of 22 Police Officers in the unit. Some of my other responsibilities include the routine handling of sensitive investigations, overseeing the Police Officers who are assigned sensitive cases, scheduling and coordination with Polygraph section, maintaining a fleet of 21 vehicles via coordination with the Fleet Service Bureau, reviewing completed case paperwork generated from Police Officers, maintaining liaison with over 100 outside agencies and the County of Nassau, and overseeing and ensuring that sensitive personal information secured from applicants is filed or disposed of properly,as required by law. AIU coordinates the hiring with the Commissioner of Police, Personnel and Accounting Bureau, Police Academy, Surgeon’s Office and the Property Bureau. Drawing upon many years of Police Patrol and Supervisory experience, Field Training experience and a College Education in Business, I have become quite successful in my present assignment. Consequently, this is allowing me to continually hire a high quality labor force for Nassau County.
