"Being able to drastically improve the quality of life of individuals through technology."When I asked myself how I wanted to contribute to society, this was my answer. Since then, I have become heavily invested in prosthetics and orthotics: Aiding people in increasing their feeling of autonomy and control, which they might have unexpectedly lost through illness or accidents. However, as no bachelor studies offer such a specialized study direction, I took matters into my own hands by becoming a student of the University College Twente's Technical Liberal Arts and Sciences (ATLAS) degree. The study focuses on self-directed learning, allowing students to mould their curriculum to become the engineer they want to be. Moreover, an emphasis is put on applying one's knowledge and skills in an interdisciplinary environment focussed on engineering, mathematics, and social sciences. I am currently expanding this multidisciplinary yet specialized foundation, through the M.Sc. Biomedical Engineering (Biorobotics track) at the University of Twente.During my time at the university, I have not only done various projects related to prosthetics and robotics but also picked up working experience in various fields: I was a teaching assistant for material science, thermodynamic systems, and mechatronic design, became the student coordinator for my department's Bachelor Open Days and Student for a Day activities and managed the 3D-printing and electronics lab of my study.I have always been a person that follows his passion with vigour, from my studies to my hobbies. I grab opportunities that interest me with both hands and do my best to leave the world a better place than I found it. However, there is still plenty for me to learn and see so I am eager to keep discovering, meeting new people and acquiring experiences along the way!
