The University Innovation Fellows is a program of Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school). The program was created as part of the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter), a five-year National Science Foundation grant (2011-2016), and became part of the d.school in July 2016. This program empowers students to become leaders of change in higher education. Fellows are leading a global movement to ensure that all students gain the attitudes, skills, and knowledge required to navigate a complex world. These student leaders from schools around the world create new opportunities that help their peers develop an entrepreneurial mindset, build creative confidence, seize opportunities, define problems, and address global challenges.• Selected by Stanford University to be one of 251 students from 65 higher education institutions in 15 countries for training in on-campus change-making• Accomplished a 6-week Design Thinking Fellowship and learned how to use Innovation tools such as design thinking to transform our campus and improve our Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) Ecosystem.• Collaborated with peers and mentors to design projects to impact our school.• Discovered design thinking, the lean methodology, and how to map campus ecosystems.• Utilized lean startup models to identify solutions to challenges in higher education.• Formalized the University Innovation Fellow program at Institut Teknologi Harapan Bangsa.• Advocated and led cross-departmental and cross-institutional partnerships to hold new course offerings that incorporate creativity, innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurship within and alongside traditional coursework.
