Combining (hardware) research and project management activities.Research activities:- Research topics include a.o. Physical Uncloneable Functions (PUFs), Hardware Intrinsic Security (HIS), Fuzzy Extractors, Coding Theory, Information Theory, Random Number Generation.- (Co-)Author of 7 papers, which have been accepted for publication at 11 conferences/workshops (including CHES, DATE, and TRUST) and 2 journals.- Co-author of a patent request.- Guest lecturer at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven.- Student internship (BSc/MSc) supervisor.Project management activities:- Project leader within the research project UNIQUE, which has been funded by the European Commission through the FP7 framework.- Leading “work package” focused on development of building blocks for Physical Uncloneable Functions.- This work package has resulted in the successful creation of an ASIC (containing six different PUF implementations), specifically for international research purposes.- Furthermore, FPGA building blocks for solving security use cases based on PUFs have been implemented and several scientific papers have been published by the involved project partners. - Consortium consisted of researchers and engineers from Intel (Ireland), Thales (France), KU Leuven (Belgium), TU Darmstadt (Germany), Sirrix (Germany), Technikon (Austria), and Intrinsic-ID (The Netherlands).

Research activities of PLDS in the Netherlands have been terminated in March 2009 due to the global financial crisis.• Worked as a system engineer at a research department within the field of optical storage• Project on (automated) write strategy tuning for both DVD and BD systems:- Investigate which timing and power parameters require tuning to enhance write quality- Determine impact of each parameter as well as correlation between parameters- Reduce tuning effort by combining uncorrelated parameters in a two dimensional space- Use all results found to design an algorithm for automated tuning• Worked in multidisciplinary teams with system, software and servo engineers to:- Invent, test and implement new features for optical storage- Detect, investigate and solve problems on new optical drives
