At Karcher, I was on the Sustaining Engineering team, responsible for the support and improvement of current products and machines; solving quality, production, field, and supplier issues on a daily basis. In order to improve upon a current product, new designs were created and tested by the Test Laboratory for the most extreme condition in which the part or subsystem would be utilized. Once testing was completed with satisfactory results, an engineering change request (ECR) was submitted with the necessary documentation (engineering drawings, test data, costing, and existing parts dispositioning, and assembly routing) were included to ensure a smooth transition from engineering to production. I was also responsible for setting up smaller, resale machines within the Windchill PDM system. This consisted of a project manager role to ensure the project schedule remained on-time, and within budget. In every aspect of my duties at Karcher, I collaborated with multi functional teams from sourcing, purchasing, quality, new product development, production planning, manufacturing engineering, test laboratory, product managers, and directors to ensure all departments were always up to date on all projects. In addition, I was also the engineering lead on the cost reduction team, tasked with saving $1.0M in 2014 and $1.1M in 2015, both of which were met. Each proposal for cost savings was required to be approved by engineering in order for implementation to take place. All new designs required testing in the Test Laboratory in order to validate for current production, then an ECR could take place once all testing was completed.
