Responsibilities:•Project manager (5 – 20 people)•Network designer and consultantAchievements:•Led projects to reorganize the LAN networks of several large locations.•Designed strategies to migrate huge networks from NetBIOS/NetBEUI to TCP/IP.•Designed corporate DHCP/WINS network.•Designed and implemented router configuration generation in order to automate the configuration of branch office routers.

The challenge here was to migrate the development environment from SunView (one workstation per developer) to X-Windows (one terminal per developer.) The snag here was that IPC had been set up using fixed names and identifiers. I had to analyse and mass-mutate hundreds of C-files in order to set up unique IPC names and identifiers for each session.

This project was sponsored by the Dutch Heart Foundation.The task at hand was to set up an scientific infrastructure for gathering statistical information from a knowledge based system. I set up a network of Apple Macintosh systems, programmed extensions to LPA MacProlog and wrote software to gather information from the network of systems.

As a student I worked with the Interchange Data Structure (IDAS) team at Philips. In retrospect IDAS had many concepts now found in XML. I developed a screen editor using the JAM user interface toolkit.On the side I proposed improvements to the IDAS runtime environment which resulted in a performance boost end reduced processing times by 50%. Jobs that took 12 hours suddenly finished in 6. Not too shabby for a student.
