Senior R&D Project Manager / Gut Microbiota & Biomarker Discovery
As a research project manager, my role consisted in working in close association with INRA researchers (Metagenopolis) to translate their know-how into validated tools that can be used for high throughput metagenomic analysis of stool samples and biomarkers discovery. The overall objective was to develop and maintain a robust pipeline that can support approval of products by health authorities.For this purpose we developed validation studies for each step of the pipeline:- a medical device designed for stool samples collection by patients was developed under ISO13485 for CE-marking,- technical solutions for short, mid- and long term storage of stool samples before DNA extraction were compared and validated, - several automated and semi-automated DNA extraction methods were compared with the manual reference method developed by INRA researchers (efficacy and reproducibility),- SOLiD and Illumina technologies were compared for random shotgun sequencing of DNA obtained from stool samples. I was also involved in scientific communication with researchers and KOLs, development of collaborations with private companies and academics, grant applications (H2020, ANR, FUI), literature and technology watch, writing of scientific plans and reports…

- In charge of developing a research lab located in CEA (French Atomic Energy Commission) premises and dedicated to the study of biosafety/infection control solutions in various Environmental as well as Life Sciences and Healthcare applications;- Complete setup of a new BSL2 lab (equipment, biosafety, SOPs) and work in an existing BSL3 lab;- Supervision of several employees (researcher, PhD students, technicians);- Developing research and validation studies dealing with medical devices decontamination and sterilization, gas decontamination for rooms and material, drinking water microbiology in hospitals ...- Work with many different bacterial species (including mycobacteria, enterobacteria, chlamydia, legionella, mycoplasma..), viruses (including parvoviruses, giant viruses infecting protozoa...), prion and free-living amoebae- General manager of a 3-years R&D program granted by the French government (Projet FUI GLOBAL DECONTA PGD, pôle de compétitivité Medicen Région Ile-de-France), involving 5 private companies and 5 public institutions (3 million Euros grant);- In charge of promoting R&D collaborations with private companies and academic institutions in Europe and US;- Company's representative in the Governing Board of the public Research Foundation "Alliance Biosecure" granting fund for external R&D projects (www.fondation-alliance-biosecure.org);- Company's representative in international R&D meetings in the field of general microbiology, infection control, biosafety, hospital and hygiene;- In charge of scientific communication: publications & conferences.
