My last employment was leading the Private Sector engagement and partnerships work of the USAID-funded Youth employment and business startup project- YouLead in Sri Lanka, co-creating solutions to tackle youth unemployment and gender inclusion in employment together with key private sector partners, government counterparts, and policymakers in Sri Lanka. My work involves designing, developing, and implementing youth and workforce development programs, building public-private partnerships, community outreach, facilitating dialogue with government and private sector stakeholders, and public-private vocational training institutes to enhance the employability skills of youth in Sri Lanka.Prior to joining the Development world, I worked as a Human Resources professional for over 13 years, performing key HR functions in the private sector, with a focused specialization in learning and development. I have worked in the Sri Lankan private sector in multiple industries including apparel, ICT, and palm oil plantations, as well as in diversified business conglomerates, working with the boards to improve broad people management policies, processes, and cultural shifts in developing local talent. I am a passionate advocate of equality, women's participation in the labor force, youth skills development, and gender inclusiveness in workplaces. I have been working closely as a volunteer in animal rights advocacy in Sri Lanka and continue to support causes that matter.
