• Hinchingbrooke Hospital is a district general hospital based in Huntingdon with a spoke laboratory providing a range of blood science services with cold work being sent to the pathology hub at Peterborough.
• Loading and unloading samples, replenishing reagents, conducting maintenance, troubleshooting, running QCs, calibrations & EQAs on an array of analysers including the Sysmex CS-2500, Sysmex XN-1000/XN-2000, Sediplus.
• Carrying out manual haematology techniques for the Paul Bunnell test, sickle cell solubility testing and malaria screens. Staining, filing and storing bone marrow slides, malaria slides and regular peripheral blood.
• Validating full blood count results via Sysmex EPU and validating coagulation results on the Sysmex IPU on the CS-2500. Validating group and screen results onboard the Grifols Eflexis. Authorising the results and.
• I am responsible for the issuing of blood and batch products and maintaining sufficient bloodstock at all times. I am able to liaise with SERV and NHSBT to provide blood for emergency requests as well as liaise with.
• Carrying out antibody investigations as required and referring when necessary to RCI Colindale for identification or confirmation.
