I first turned to data science in college to see if I could get an edge in my fantasy football league; fast forward three years and I'm looking to turn it into a career and be able to uncover all of the treasures that analytics has. As a computer science major, I wanted to make previously impossible tasks a breeze with the power of computers. After trying web design with HTML and JavaScript, tinkering with virtual reality with C and the Unity Game Engine, and even designing a video game with Unity, I still felt that my perfect field was out there. Then, while working with a friend to find an advantage in our house fantasy football league, I discovered data science and was hooked.Before diving head-first into the world of data science and analytics, I wanted to get real-world computer science experience and hone my programming skills in a more fast-paced environment. Enter Infosys. After completing a 10-month Full-Stack Java training program with Revature, I was hired by Infosys to work as an associate. Here, I utilized Java, JavaScript, and Oracle SQL to maintain and add features to a Warehouse Management System that was used to track product shipments worldwide. A solid foundation in programming and a piqued interest in data science eventually led me to pursue an M.S. in Analytics at North Carolina State University. Here I am utilizing Python, R, and SAS to learn the ins and outs of manipulating and analyzing data and provide deeper insights into raw numbers while using software like Tableau to better visualize complex data in an easily understandable fashion.When I’m not coding and working with data sets, I love playing sports. I have played soccer, basketball, and flag football since I was a kid and have since added disc golf to the mix.
