The agricultural insurance sector in India has largely focused at the level of micro insurance (individual farmers as policy holders), through highly subsidized central schemes such as PMFBY. This fellowship seeks to explore the potential and feasibility of agricultural insurance at the meso-level, which covers “risk-aggregators” such as banks, MFIs, or agribusinesses.

CELL GRID PROJECTWorked on developing a validation module for a geospatial/statistical product which combines National Census, Spatial Point and Satellite Imagery data to disseminate socioeconomic information at extremely granular levels of upto 100 metres. Accurate data at such micro levels can serve as a vital cog in making localized policy decisions effectively. Currently engaged in identifying secondary datasets at similar levels of granularity for data validation.
