Safeguards Software Architect
CurrentThe primary role of the Department of Safeguards (SG) is to deter the proliferation of nuclear weapons. As the software architect, my responsibility includes the planning and architecture of applications built for the Department of Safeguards with respect to technology choices, security, storage of confidential information, transfer of data between secure networks, skill set resourcing for projects and synchronization of projects delivery and to provide interim solutions for projects dependent on other projects yet to be delivered. Other responsibilities and achievements include:• Leading teams for delivery of projects, and introducing self organising teams, with lean agile approaches, with an emphasis on a bottom up approaches and managing upwards in a PRINCE2/AGILE environment. • Consultation, consolidation and review of business processes and procedures and technology choices and providing best fit solution with respect to technical environmental considerations and business needs.• Technical Planning and Mapping for new projects and for newer versions of existing projects.• Exploration of Technology choices across the departmental projects.• High Level consultation for various projects in startup phase, provided technology, design and pattern advice.• Fast prototyping for proof of concepts and demonstration of the applicability of concepts to the projects being developed• Creation of frameworks to speed up development• Governance of technology and pattern choices across all the projects.
