Hi everyone. My name is Vinay. My friends call me Vinny and I'm a board certified Neurologist. My main focus of study has been the aging brain and how different forms of cognitive impairment occur. A long time ago I realized that to be a better Neurologist, I had to be a better General / Integrative Physician as well. After moving to India about a decade ago and working at NIMHANS & Fortis for awhile. I started my own practice. I also consulted for startups like HealthCareMagic.com, DocsApp and co founded Growfit, a health food company. The major lacunae I have seen in the Indian healthcare system are:1. A wildly variant standard of care in a single geography. Go to a major hospital on Monday and you might get a great doctor who has been keeping abreast of the latest medical science. Go an hour later or the next day you might get a guy who hasn't read a journal in 30 years and just treats his patients the way he saw his professors do it in the 60's2. The primary care system is disorganized, chaotic, and frankly broken. It's even more confusing with GPs following such varying standards, plus they are devalued in the populations mind to treating nothing but colds and coughs. They do not form the lynchpin of your healthcare team or the backbone of the healthcare system. If you have knee pain, why see a GP when you can see an Ortho directly / s. Lots of people with tension headaches come to me talking about brain tumours and migraines when they should have seen a GP first and done some basic journalling. I founded Enso Integrated Medicine in March 2020 so that we would solve these problems in people's homes. This was instead of making them schlep to hospitals or clinics where the main measure of success for them is footfalls. I'm passionate about primary health care because I am a specialist. I've seen too many of my patients suffer due to a basic lack of humanistic management and evidence-based care. I'm slightly obsessive because the only way for a patient to trust me as their doctor is to become totally vulnerable to them, as they are to me. Hence Enso. I hope to work with like-minded people.
